Who Are We?

Food Source UK is a Memnosyne UK Chapter initiative which will play a significant role in addressing food insecurity in the United Kingdom. Our aim is to facilitate large donations of surplus foods and resource that would otherwise go to waste and providing the food to those in need. Our mission is to change the perception of food waste and to advocate for reducing waste across the nation. Since 2013, the American arm of ‘Food Source’ has helped businesses donate over £28M of food and resources, which has been a substantial contribution to alleviating food insecurity. ‘Food Source UK’ will focus on feeding the hungry through community support and partnerships. We will offer a service that is both beneficial for food distributors and families in need, ensuring that is distributed at no cost to partners or recipients.

Our Aim


Food Source UK exists to tackle food poverty by connecting surplus food with the people who need it most. We believe no one should go hungry in a country where so much food goes to waste. Our mission is to create dignified, practical, and sustainable solutions that reduce hunger, cut waste, and strengthen communities.

Our Ambitions

  • Campaign & Awareness: Use public relations and storytelling to raise national awareness of food poverty, shining a light on those most affected and inspiring action.

  • Lobby & Influence: Engage with policymakers and government to push for systemic solutions that address both hunger and food waste.

  • Support What Works: Highlight and raise the profile of charities already doing excellent work, amplifying their reach and impact.

  • Reduce Food Waste: Act as a pressure group to stop needless waste and salvage good food, ensuring it is redistributed effectively.

  • Infrastructure & Innovation: Identify and help fund practical solutions—including refrigeration, storage, and transport—that make food distribution more efficient.

  • Distribution & Access: Fill gaps in existing provision by ensuring surplus food reaches the most vulnerable families with dignity and empathy.
